A fatal stabbing on an RTC bus in Las Vegas has been shown to a Clark County grand jury after the suspect Aaron Cole was charged in the attack that ended up killing the victim, Dominique Lucas.
According to reports, the incident occurred on February 26 when Lucas and Cole were alleged to have gotten into some sort of dispute. In the video clip that’s been released to be public, the 30-year-old, who is seen sitting next to Cole, tells him, “I wasn’t bothering you,” before the suspect pulls out a knife and stabs him repeatedly, prompting Lucas to run to the front of the bus.

Terrified and in panic, Lucas tells the bus driver — who continues the journey — to open the door in hopes of escaping Cole, but the driver appears to ignore his request. Within seconds, the 59-year-old gets out of his seat and comes back to the front of the bus to continue knifing Lucas who screams in pain as onlookers stare in disbelief but fail to take action by offering their help.
A police report claims that the bus driver pressed a panic button amid the attack but didn’t open the front door because it is part of RTC’s policy to keep the doors shut while the vehicle is moving. Cole has an extensive history of run-ins with the law, including a 1994 arrest on a second-degree murder charge — which was later reduced to aggravated assault — that kept him behind bars for 23 years. He was released in 2017.
While Lucas was rushed to a nearby hospital he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after. Many people have voiced their frustration over the incident by holding the bus driver partially accountable for not opening the doors regardless of the company’s policy, they said.
One Reddit user said, “This could have definitely been avoided if the bus driver had just opened the door when he asked the first time. That man’s life could have still been saved and I hate to say it but maybe the driver purposely didn’t open the door. either way, still stick.”

Another person was just as bothered as they wrote, “wtf did I just watch? That bus driver needs to be charged as well for holding the passenger hostage when the man knifing him is literally stuck in the same bus with him. This is honestly insane.”
When the driver was quizzed in court on whether it was protocol in regard to helping someone out physically when they get stabbed or injured, he responded, saying, “Not that I know of. I mean, the first priority is your own safety, so I’ve got to make sure I’m safe enough to operate that bus for the other passengers also.”
